Tony Parker is a former professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the best point guards in NBA history.
Born in 1982 in Bruges, Tony Parker was immersed in the world of high-level sport from birth (his father was a professional American basketball player). He naturally chose this path, initially starting at PSG Racing in 1999.
In pursuit of performance, he tried his luck in America by entering the NBA draft and was selected by the San Antonio Spurs. This decision proved beneficial, as in his first game, he broke records. His rapid progress and remarkable achievements led him to become, in 2003, the first French NBA champion, leading his team to victory against the New Jersey Nets. He went on to win multiple NBA championships with the Spurs.
Known for his speed, court vision, and leadership, Parker was a six-time NBA All-Star and was named NBA Finals MVP in 2007.
In addition to his NBA success, Parker had a distinguished international career, representing the French national team. He helped France win the gold medal at the 2013 FIBA EuroBasket and earned the tournament MVP honors. He also played in multiple Olympic Games for France.
After a defeat at the 2016 Rio Olympics, he ended his career as a professional basketball player but continued to expand his influence in the sports world, becoming a key figure in European basketball and maintaining a global presence through his business ventures.
Off the court, Parker is a successful businessman and owner of the French basketball club ASVEL Basket. He has also been involved in various philanthropic efforts and charitable causes.
His remarkable career and contributions to basketball led to his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023.
