Nick Mallett



Nick Mallett is a renowned rugby coach and former player, widely respected in the international rugby community. Born on October 30, 1956, in Hertfordshire, England, Mallett grew up in South Africa and began his rugby career as a player, earning several caps as a number eight for Western Province and representing the South African national team.

Mallett’s coaching career took off when he was appointed as head coach of the Western Province team, where he demonstrated his strategic prowess and leadership skills. He later rose to prominence as the head coach of the South African national team, the Springboks, from 1997 to 2000. During his tenure, the Springboks achieved a world-record winning streak of 17 consecutive Test matches. His success in this role established Mallett as one of the leading figures in rugby coaching.

After his stint with South Africa, Mallett continued to shape the sport at the international level, taking on the role of head coach for the Italian national rugby team from 2007 to 2011. Under his leadership, Italy secured notable victories and demonstrated significant improvement, particularly in the Six Nations Championship.
