DEVHack 2024

 Virtual Hackathon

 Team applications close February 22.
Accepted applicants will be notified on March 1.

What is the Guidewire DEVHack?

The Guidewire DEVHack 2024 is Guidewire’s new virtual hackathon that allows the largest network of developers in the P&C industry to demonstrate their skills, passion, and experience to solve real-world industry problems.

We want to inspire development teams to get creative, work together, and build something great, leveraging the power of Guidewire — the world’s best platform for P&C.

From March 8 - April 1, 2024 twenty-five teams will compete to build a winning and innovative solution. Finalists will be announced at the Guidewire DEVSummit event on April 24, 2024, and the winning teams will be announced on April 25.

Think your team has what it takes to win? Space is limited, so be sure to submit your application soon. All team applications must be submitted no later than 11:59pm Pacific Time on February 22, 2024.

The Requirements

The DEVHack theme is “Innovate and Grow.”

Competing development teams will be given access to a full InsuranceSuite sandbox environment provisioned on Guidewire Cloud Platform.

You will be asked to identify a challenge that is facing the P&C insurance industry and then build a working prototype of a compelling and innovative solution to that challenge. You might choose to build a prototype of a new embedded insurance product, a reusable Digital Experience Template built on Jutro Digital Platform, a new third-party integration using the Guidewire Integration Framework, an Automated Workflow Template to reduce straight through processing times using the new Autopilot Workflow Service, or something else entirely.

The possibilities are only limited to what your team can imagine and build.

To participate, you must register using the application form above, in which you will be asked to:
  1. Identify yourself and your team members (there’s a maximum of 5 team members per team)
  2. Describe the unique challenge you’re trying to solve
  3. Describe the solution you’ll attempt to build during the 30-day hackathon timeframe

A maximum of 25 teams will be approved and selected to compete. Once your application has been accepted, your development team will be given access to the InsuranceSuite environment and have 30 days to build a working prototype of your solution. By the end of those 30 days, you will be required to submit:
  1. A persuasive video presentation and demo of your solution (3 minutes max)
  2. A written report explaining your solution and your team’s approach to building it (2 pages max)
  3. The source code of your working prototype

The Prizes

From all submissions, a panel of judges will select five teams as finalists. The finalists’ video presentations will be shown on Day 1 of the Guidewire DEVSummit in Bengaluru, India on April 24, 2024, at which time audience voting will be opened.

On Day 2 of the DEVSummit, we will announce the first place, second place, and third place winners of DEVHack!

After the DEVSummit, winners will receive:

  • First place: $500 cash for each team member (max of 5 team members)

  • Second place: $300 cash for each team member (max of 5 team members)

  • Third place: $150 cash for each team member (max of 5 team members)

There’s more. Any of the 25 teams will also have the opportunity to submit their solutions through Guidewire’s Marketplace validation process. Validated solutions that meet Guidewire Marketplace criteria can then be promoted on Guidewire Marketplace.
